Vintage wooden birdhouse in red color, no 18
Regular Price €249.00
In the 1960s, in the Italian countryside, winegrowers had a completely natural method to protect their vineyards from insects and parasites: they placed a wooden house at the beginning of each row to attract the great tit, a small insectivorous bird useful for the balance of the ecosystem. These houses, handcrafted from recycled wood, were numbered one by one and have now become unique and original pieces, rich in history and rural charm. The great tit (Parus major), widespread in Europe and North America, is a curious and determined little bird. It does not tolerate intruders: when it sees its reflection in a mirror, it attacks it believing it is a rival! It is very active and feeds on larvae and parasites, which are harmful to crops.
