Vintage Car Radiator Lamp, Sheffield 1925
The lamp was placed under the radiator of the car to ensure it did not freeze in the winter, in a time before antifreeze existed. The lamp is manufactured by "The Wolf Safety Lamp Co Ltd" in Sheffield, England in 1925. The body is made of stamped galvanized steel, the base acts as a fuel tank, which can be petrol or Scottish naphtha. Brass screw cap. The lighter is mounted near the double wick tube and is operated by a spring-loaded handle. This controls the movement of a pin, which can be pushed up so that the spark immediately lights the wick when the handle is turned. The wick adjustment is controlled by the base. The chimney screws into the container. The lamp is supplied with a bracket and a hook.
