Vintage Algol 11 television by Brionvega designed by Zanuso & Sapper
Vintage Algol 11 television, first series, an unusual 11 inch portable transistor television. In 1964 Marco Zanuso and Richard Sapper designed this Brionvega transistor television model Algol 11 and marketed by the Milanese company Brionvega. It is characterized by the rounded and inclined screen (for this reason Zanuso will compare it to a little dog looking up at its owner) and the removable metal handle. The device is made of white ABS plastic with beveled edges. The kinescope has a 90° deflection to allow easier viewing. In the upper part there are the controls for switching on, adjusting the volume, brightness and contrast, and selecting the pre-selected VHF and UHF channels. On the back of the television there are sockets for connecting to the mains, the internal rechargeable battery, the VHF and UHF channels, for an external speaker and the antenna selector. The Algol 11 is a global icon of industrial design, it is exhibited in the most important contemporary art museums, even the MoMa in New York houses an example. In perfect working order, there are some small signs caused by age. In perfect condition!
Measurements: Width 28 cm, Depth 36 cm, Height 26 cm.
