The Three Women - Three paintings by Valère Saive from 1930s
Regular Price €6,500.00
Three large 1930s paintings by Valère Saive (Bressoux 1908 - Liege 1987 - Belgium), vertical paintings of women representing spring.
Measures with frame: Width 95 cm, height 200 cm. Oil on panel, 1930s. The asking price is for the three paintings. The pictorial style also recalls the works of Giò Ponti.
Valere Saive was trained at the Institut Saint-Luc de Liège, Belgium. Stylistically very classical, his landscapes, portraits, and mythological themes are influenced by his training in Rome 1933-1937. In the 1950s he became a faculty member at the Academie de Liège and became a muralist, often painting oil on wood panels as in the present lot. He designed for the Pavillon du Tourisme de l'Exposition de l'Eau à Liège and the Casino de Spa in 1946. The above lot was probably part of an interior mural or series. E.A.Hermans may have been an architect.
