Samo oval table by Carlo Scarpa for Simon-Gavina in Naxos marble, 1970

SAMO model oval dining table designed by Carlo Scarpa in 1970 and produced by Simon-Gavina in crystalline white NAXOS marble.
It rests on two layered pillars, in a single block. Rare example now out of production, the very thick oval top has no black veins as it was one of the last examples made with NAXOS marble which later sold out forever.
This table is part of the production that used Greek Naxos marble, subsequently Carrara marble was used which has black veins.
Wear is consistent with age and use, but there are no scratches.
The SAMO table is attributed to the designer Carlo Scarpa.
The table has no evidence of the brand.
Discontinued vintage item, produced in 1983 and purchased in 1985. Offered by a private seller.
