Ivan Karpof (Russia 1898 - Milan 1970). Arriving in Milan in 1925, he brilliantly graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts after following the painting course of Ambrogio Alciati. During his years at the Academy he met the painter Julia Ivanovna Lund (1905-1974), of Norwegian origin but born in Russia, who will become his wife in 1930 and of whom three children will be born. He used pseudonyms in order to sell, at the time being a foreigner was not particularly appreciated.
