Francesco Tironi - pair of antique paintings from the 18th century with views of Venice
Pair of splendid oil paintings on canvas depicting Venetian landscapes. One canvas represents the entrance to Cannaregio and Palazzo Labia, the other the Grand Canal and the Rialto Bridge. These two views can be traced back to the hand of the famous painter Francesco Tironi – Venice, 1745 – Bologna 1799 (a talented landscape painter active in Italy during the second part of the Age of Enlightenment, specialized in architectural views intended to skilfully reproduce perspective illusions), in fact a particularity at the base of the Rialto Bridge, the artist monogrammed the work. In the paintings we can admire corners of the Venice lagoon animated by boats, gondolas, gondoliers and travellers, as well as palaces, new factories and churches, with elegant architectural structures of the buildings and the magnificent rippling motion of the waves.
