Antique pastel painting depicting a portrait of Marie Antoinette with the rose in a splendid blue dress, complete with a gilded wooden frame from the same period as the painting. The queen wears a light, shiny silk dress in grey-blue tones with a simple and linear appearance. The tight-fitting bodice has a deep circular neckline which enhances the harmonious shapes of the figure and highlights the beautiful whiteness of the skin, much praised even by her favorite painter, who stated that painting would never do it justice. A double ruffle of delicate transparent lace refines the contours, also defining the curvature of the shoulders, while a small striped bow is applied centrally which recalls the same shades as the dress and falls lightly.
