Antique alabaster sculpture depicting Michelangelo's David. The young David presents a proud posture and concentrated on carrying out the war gesture against the giant Goliath, in fact he is in a standing position. The head is turned to the young man's left and David seems to be looking intently at a distant point. The facial expression is intense and shows extreme concentration. The young David is represented in the act of observing the giant warrior Goliath before facing him. David's appearance is that of a classic hero and as such is sculpted naked and muscular. David with his proud attitude soon became the symbol of Florence.
